Strange, I've never had that problem. My MIME prefs have remained
unchanged over several installs. I can't remember if it screwed them
up when upgrading NC2->NC3, but I can live with that.
The only thing I can think of is the style of installation - I never
let the installer overwrite an existing setup, I always rename the old
dir beforehand so I can go back to it undisturbed. I also notice I've
got a mime.prefs in ENVARC: too, maybe that overrides local copies??
