I did nothing special to make MD-II MIME capable. It simply worked
from first installation.

You need to get MD-II 1.4.4. If you have NC2 there is a special
version for that from the Vapor site. First you install the full
archive, then replace the MD-II executable with the NC2 special
version.  While you are at it, update any MUI installations that are to
be found in the Vapor archives.
