I find that I can get similar results if I try at the weekend, but if I try in the 
evenings during the week all I get is the number unobtainable tone.

That's partly true here for me too. It has reduced my phone bill, enough to cover the 
cost of subscribing but as above I still need to connect through one of my other ISPs 
at times.

I have no problem getting or sending mail through the services of my main ISP when 
online with RHA. I have all my ISPs set up to use the same POP3 and SMTP settings
 
So far I am happy with RHA as I realise that the service is an alternative option not 
a replacement.
