I haven't tried either the new Alpha nor the new CM but have read reports on
the Voyager m/l that addressed this problem ...

Same here. You'll also find that Using the latest Alpha will result in your
V prefs & buttons being corrupted so you wont be able to go back to the old
stable version without a backup of both ...
