You can view Word docs now--there are a few solutions, maybe even a
datatype. Otherwise, if you load it into a text editor and delete 95%
of it, which is formatting and font and ruler crap, you will find a
tiny little kernel of text in the middle,

I  don't know if it's possible to reprogram the belief systems of PC
users and convince them that we can't use.exe files though. One whom I
told that, suggested I phone the MS help desk. I was quite unable to
trust myself to reply.
