Thanks for your response, Ian. It sure is nice to see a name from of old & to know one isn't sinking unobserved. I've just carried out your suggestion, i.e. downloading both news groups & headers & it works. Not ideal, of course, & it takes ages!!! Sorry about the loss of the "thread" in this reply but I received your answer via a PeeCee in another place so your message was thereby lost to me back here on the Amiga. Oh dear.
