It is hard to believe that a poor placement of data and extra bloat do not
matter.
While the analogy isn't completely apt, the old "if a tree falls in a forest and
noone is there to hear it does it make a sound" saying comes to mind. in this
case, it would be "if we have 64 bytes of data in a 1500 byte buffer and no-one
else needs memory..."
