HI folks,
i have done a ND2 Installation on my Company Network with HP and 3cm Switches.
ND detects the HP Switches properly. Also the 3com Switches are detected, but
ND shows them with unknown Vendor and with wrong Model (for example
enterprises.43.1.16.4.3.21)
here is the output of the netdisco-do -D -d <Device>:
try_connect with ver: 2, class: SNMP::Info::Layer3, comm: public
when I run the same Command against one of my HP Switches, he uses the class:
SNMP::Info::layer2::HP, comm: public
Can someone tell me please what I have to do to get the 3com Switches detected
properly?
Regards,
Bjoern

Thanks in advance,

What models of 3Com switches do you have?
You need some additional SNMP::Info classes to recognise 3Com switches.
I wrote some years ago and have tweaked them ever since; there details are
here:
https://sites.google.com/site/jrbinks/code/netdisco/snmp-info-3com
I have updated the tarfile there with the versions I used today.
You will also need the 3Com MIBs; I used to worry about re-distributing
them (hence the comments on the site), but what the heck, I've uploaded
them too. See the instructions on what to do with them.
You will also need to hand-patch Info.pm as noted on the site.
There are two types of 3Com product: the SuperStack/II/3 stuff with the
menu driven CLI, and the stuff they later developed with H3C (models like
3Com E5500, 4800G, H3C S5500, HP A5500/5120 and so on). My classes
handled both -- I would have kept them separate if I was starting over
now. However SNMP::Info now has its own H3C class (primarily Comware5
devices) included with recent versions of SNMP::Info which I think should
override the 3Com classes. The depth of feature support varies in both,
but for basic information they are more or less fine.
Good luck, let me know if you need more guidance and I will try to help.
Jethro.

So I’ve just upgraded our installation to the latest version 2. No matter how I format it in the deployment.yml, I can’t get multiple snmp communities to work properly. If I do a comma separated list such as:
community: community1, community2, community&3
It starts the discover as if they’re one string
[7569] 2014-08-01 17:34:53 info discover: started at Fri Aug 1 12:34:53 2014
[7569] 2014-08-01 17:34:53 debug [172.31.1.111] try_connect with ver: 2, class: SNMP::Info::Layer2::HP, comm: community1, community2, community&3
[7569] 2014-08-01 17:35:03 debug [172.31.1.111] try_connect with ver: 2, class: SNMP::Info, comm: community1, community2, community&3
[7569] 2014-08-01 17:35:12 debug [172.31.1.111] try_connect with ver: 1, class: SNMP::Info::Layer2::HP, comm: community1, community2, community&3
[7569] 2014-08-01 17:35:21 debug [172.31.1.111] try_connect with ver: 1, class: SNMP::Info, comm: community1, community2, community&3
I also tried configuring with the other format listed using a line for each
Community:
- community1
- community2
- community&3
With the result:
[22189] 2014-08-01 17:39:51 debug [172.31.1.111] try_connect with ver: 2, class: SNMP::Info::Layer2::HP, comm: ARRAY(0x2461e08)
[22189] 2014-08-01 17:40:01 debug [172.31.1.111] try_connect with ver: 2, class: SNMP::Info, comm: ARRAY(0x2461e08)
If I list them in order as full community: statements
community: community1
community: community2
community: community&3
It will only use the last community string listed, community&3.
Am I missing something? Running on RHEL 6, all the latest updates.
Thanks,
Richard
