Thanks Sanjeev,
I think that maybe it's not working as well as I thought, a discover command
returns the following:

Sorry for the noob question, but I am looking for some "getting started" type
documentation for netdisco 2. I've downloaded Wokka's appliance, and have it
all setup by following the installation instructions at
https://metacpan.org/pod/App::Netdisco#Configuration .
It seems to be working from what I can tell.....
I can log on to my netdisco server web page without any issues, but can't seem
to find out how to set up a seed address for network discovery. Maybe I am
missing something obvious ?

While logged into the shell as the netdisco user, run:

bin/netdisco-do discover -d <IP-ADDRESS-OF-YOUR-SWITCH>

If all goes well, you will see output as it lists neighbours.  For lots more
outout, use:

bin/netdisco-do -DISG discover -d <IP-ADDRESS-OF-YOUR-SWITCH>

Hello,
I`f changes the community string according the USM rules.
Thanks for your answer Jeroen van Ingen :-)

I have one more question :-)

If i look for a mac address it founds (The requested mac address)the IP address
of the connected device.
What i`m missing is the name of the switch and the port it`s connected to. The
"device or node" cell is empty.

Am i missing something in the configuration or is it a feature for in the
future.
Because that would be really nice to have.

Greetings
Palermo

You should see results like this:

http://netdisco2-demo.herokuapp.com/search?tab=node&q=00:15:17:44:55:66&stamps=on&daterange=&mac_format=IEEE

If there's no Switch Port row, then I think the macsuck is not working or running. I would try running a macsuck manually on the device.

oliver.

Did you run netdisco-deploy and say "Y" to downloading and installing the MIBs? There should be a ~netdisco/netdisco-mibs directory with the MIBs in.

Also have you changed the default mib_dirs setting in the configuration?

oliver.
