Hi Palermo,
You might need to put your passwords in quotes. Also make sure that you
get the indentation correct. For example:
snmp_auth:
- tag: v3example
user: myusername
auth:
pass: 'password1'
proto: SHA
priv:
pass: 'secret2'
proto: AES128
https://metacpan.org/pod/distribution/App-Netdisco/lib/App/Netdisco/Manual/Configuration.pod#snmp_auth

oliver.

-
tag: v3example
user: [user]
auth:
pass: [password]
proto: SHA
priv:
pass: [password]
proto: AES[128]
But i receive an error if i run the discover command for that switch.
i hope one of you can help me with this

i needed to add 1 character to the authentication phrase. it had 7 characters
but needed 8 characters. In the test environment i added 1 character. thats no
problem.
But in the production environment thats gonna be a hole different bol game.. Is
there a way around it?
Thanks in advanced

Hi Palermo,
A quick Google search indicates that this passphrase length is a
violation of an RFC; seems that it's hardcoded in the net-snmp libraries.
Looks like you have two options: either use longer passphrases in
production, or recompile net-snmp from source so it will allow such a
short passphrase.
Reply based on:

http://www.net-snmp.org/dev/agent/keytools_8c_source.html
(around line 00140 and 00267 the error is generated, haven't checked
where the minimum is defined)

I’m using version 2.029014
I looked in config.yml just for comparisons and I changed my deployment.yml to
this. Not sure if it will make any difference but I’ll wait and see.

Hi Ken,
First of all, which version of Netdisco are you running? In the latest version
there are some bug fixes which could apply in this situation.
Regards,
Oliver.

I’ve recently had some issues with NetDisco 2 not reliably tracking users via
IP address. For instance, I’m trying to find out which port a certain client is
attached to and I know their IP address.
I type in the IP address and NetDisco comes back with “no matching records”.
If I go to my router and type “show IP arp xx.xx.xx.xx” and will come back
with a MAC address and I can place that MAC address into NetDisco and it will
find the device…but without any IP info. Eventually these records will appear
but definitely not after 1 hour.
This is what my deployment.xml looks like. I want NetDisco to refresh IP and
MAC records at the top of the hour, the other at the bottom of the hour. Does
this look correct?
