Have you checked the file permissions on /home/netdisco/environments/
and /home/netdisco/environments/deployment.yml ? Netdisco would fall
back to the default if it couldn't access your local config.

This seems to be some issue reading the CiscoStats module, which should
be at /home/netdisco/perl5/lib/perl5/SNMP/Info/CiscoStats.pm
Might be worth checking the permissions on this one too...

Hi Dan,
That's odd... The SNMP::Info::Layer3::C6500 class includes CDP discovery
so I'd expect at least one object to be polled to see if CDP is enabled.
If you run a discover with SNMP::Info debugging enabled, does that give
any clues?

2) I compared packet traces of running "Discover" on NetDisco between a
3750 and 3850 as both devices use the same SNMP Class
(SNMP::Info::Layer3::C6500). The 3750 shows neighbors on NetDisco.
The packet trace on the 3750 had requests (and responses) in the
CISCO-CDP-MIB (1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.23.*).
The packet trace for the 3850 did not show any requests in the
CISCO-CDP-MIB.
What would prevent NetDisco from requesting CDP info? What are it's
preconditions?

Dan

Sure - just as soon as there is a port for it in FreeBSD.

I'm using Netdisco 2 on FreeBSD 10, it is really easy to install and run from
source - you don't need a port.

I believe you, and if it were just me, I'd just do it.
However, I have a reluctant team and manager to consider, and as they
are complete *nix novices, I have to get their comfort levels up.
Without a port (or package, but I *really* prefer ports), this project
isn't going to fly.

Just a curiosity, but is FreeBSD the best OS to start *nix novices on???
I consider myself a *nix moderate, I have netdisco v2 running amazing on LTS
14.04 Ubuntu. FreeBSD has always seem harder to find help with packages. I
guess I would think that it would be better to start them on something more
mainstream (Ubuntu, CentOS, etc.) so there is more help available on the
interwebs. I had to bring a former boss into the *nix world as well and FreeBSD
would have been the last distro I would have considered. After using Ubuntu for
a few months, he learned quite well and when I left was able to solve problems
on his own thanks to forums, etc.
Forgive me, I certainly am not trying to start a OS war by any means just
curious as to your thinking on this? :-)
Also apologies for providing absolutely no help in the matter at all. HAHA
