Hi Oliver,
Sorry for the super late reply. I originally worked around the problem, but I needed to redeploy so I had to re-address it.

Mysteriously, I didn't encounter this problem again.

In lib/App/Netdisco/DB/schema_versions/App-Netdisco-DB-4-5-PostgreSQL.sql
, the table node_nbt is created. However, if the table already exists, then the entire tranaction is rolled back. However, this upgrade file also creates the table device_port_ssid, which would be skipped (and was missing in my version of the database schema).
I corrected the problems that were affecting my installation, but the netdisco-db-deploy utility may be hiding errors for other users. If you want, I can provide patches specific to the problems in my installation. How should I send it?
In addition, DBIx::Class::Schema::Versioned would always deploy a schema upgrade in a transaction, even though Netdisco has all of its upgrades already wrapped in its own transaction (in the file). I removed this behaviour in my patches because when tables possibly already exist, I separated them into a separate transaction which would rollback independently of the changes in other transactions.

Netdisco began using schema versions from release 2.x of the software.
The schema deployment system needs to cope with many different versions
of Netdisco pre-dating this (i.e. 0.x and 1.x), as well as some feature
patches which were never released. Therefore there are many duplicates
and each deployment statement happens in a transaction so that it can
fail yet the complete schema deployment will still go ahead. Each schema
version is also usually one SQL statement only, for similar reasons. The
failure of any schema version step is not a problem.

Many thanks for pointing this out. I've fixed it in the code repository
myself, because sourceforge.net is down right now.

Odd, I don't see these errors myself. Please would you provide some
command output or shell log showing the error?

This should not be the case. Please would you give an example so we can
try to reproduce the problem?
Many thanks for the feedback,

oliver.

Hi,
after the next discovery the links we´re presented as expected, so I only had
to be a little bit patient. And yes, the device was added manually....
Thanks,

After running the nd-import-topology script, Netdisco 2 should have a populated
Manual Topology table. This can be seen by visiting
http://localhost:5000/admin/topology in your browser (Admin Menu -> Manual
Topology). If that table's empty, then for some reason the import hasn't worked.
I believe this is also separate from the actual discovery of the devices. You
might want to discover the devices by IP first (netdisco-do in a script loop,
for instance), then run the topology import to configure the links (one time
only).

oliver.

I’m trying to use “netdisco-do graph” but I get the following error:

Whoops! Apparently I didn’t notice that "~netdisco/bin/localenv cpanm
GraphViz” failed. I was missing the package expat-devel. I did a yum install
of that, reran the localenv command, and now “netdisco-do graph” runs.
Thanks,
Joseph B.

Thanks for the hint. You are right. The is a SNMP Bug in that IOS Version.
* ios / 15.1(2)SG - SNMP may time out and produce CPUHOG messages when
lldpXMedMIB is polled.
I use the workaround till the next maintenance:
snmp-server view restrict lldpXMedMIB excluded

There's no easy way to prevent Netdisco from trying to fetch LLDP
neighbor data.
Strange that these devices are so slow in responding to specific LLDP
requests. Perhaps it's better with newer device firmware, but in the
mean time, what you can try is excluding these objects from the MIB view
for the community used by Netdisco.
A few pointers on using SNMP views on Cisco:
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/ip/simple-network-management-protocol-snmp/20370-snmpsecurity-20370.html#setupsnmp<http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/ip/simple-network-management-protocol-snmp/20370-snmpsecurity-20370.html>
http://packetlife.net/blog/2010/dec/20/configuring-snmp-views-deter-runaway-nms-polling/
...don't follow the recommendations on excluding ARP tables and
forwarding tables though, because then Netdisco will not find node <->
IP mappings or MAC <-> port mappings anymore.
Regarding timeout & retries: personally I always configure 3-5 retries
to allow for incidental packet loss. In the past I've had to use 60 sec
timeouts for our slowest Cisco devices.

found a workaround for my problem
set the snmp snmptimeout and snmpretries
snmptimeout: '15000000'
snmpretries: '1' # I don't need retries..
I checked my traffic with tcpdump and the was some drops and timeouts for the
snmp traffic.
Suspicion:
The requests LLDP-MIB::lldpRemPortId : .1.0.8802.1.1.2.1.4.1.1.7 ran into a
timeout and retries the request.
That blocks all my other snmp traffic.
LLDP is not enabled on the switch
Is it possible to turn off that LLDP request or all LLDP requests?

Subject: Catalyst 4948e10GE neighbor discovery
I just update my RH5 Netdisco Version 0.96-cvs to RH7 Netdisco Version
2.033001. Thanks for all your work and this great software.
It's running well, only something wrong with 3 Cisco WS-C4948E. They not show
the neighbour uplinks. There is no trouble with the other Cisco Types
(29xxStack, 3560, 37xxStack, 494810GE).
In Version 0.96-cvs the neighbor discovery works well for all devices.
Hope you can help me for that.
