Hi,

my upgrade from 0.9.10 -> 1.0.1 -> 1.0.2 went basically
quite smooth (besides the web interface was partly broken
because I forgot to copy over the new apache config file) -
but I got one error during make upgrade for 1.0.1:

DBD::mysql::db do failed: Duplicate entry '' for key 'Site5' at
../lib/DBUTIL.pm line 392.
ERROR while executing ALTER TABLE site ADD UNIQUE KEY Site5 (number):
DBD::mysql::db do failed: Duplicate entry '' for key 'Site5' at
../lib/DBUTIL.pm line 392.

Doesn't seem to have any negative impact though, as far
as I can see, netdot runs fine now.

By the way, as of SNMP::Info 2.08, netdot can read the
forwarding table from Juniper EX switches, which didn't
work before.

Alex.

I know this is a very weak argument to make, but I was able to
quickly deploy netdot because I could just stick it on an existing
monitoring system which already was in all firewall rules and
access lists over the network to permit SNMP access.

That system runs Nagios, Cacti and stuff like that - with Mysql
as default backend. So basically "it's there and has no additional
maintenance costs".

Knowing what I know about netdot's usefulness now, I certainly
wouldn't have a problem to get approval for a small project to
properly roll out a netdot installation with whatever database it
needs - but I assume I wouldn't even have tried it in the first
place if it had required a new postgres installation, or worse,
the change process for a new SNMP management station...

Alex.
