I guess it depends on what you consider big. Current ARP table for that router
is 2,051 and mac table is 2,300.

Hi Terry,

How big are your ARP tables?

If your tables are huge, that may be the reason. You have two options:

a) Reduce your ARP tables by segmenting your network with more routers (easy to
say, I know)
b) Write a CLI subclass (like the ones under
lib/Netdot/Model/Device/CLI/*) to get those via SSH instead of SNMP.

Hi Michael,

I seem to remember this issue from long ago.

Try this: Go to mysql and delete any backup tables with names like
fwtable_<number> and arpcache_<number>

Let me know if that doesn't help.

Carlos,

That did the trick. I had some unrelated mysql errors that popped up
that guided me to fix the db.

When will the next version of NetDot be released?

Thanks,

-Mike

Working on it. It's taking longer than usual this time.

Carlos,

Good to hear that there is a new version coming soon.

I did find some tables named - "fwtableentry_<number>" and
"arpcacheentry_<number>" in my db. Should these tables be dropped too?

Yes, you should remove those. Otherwise you may get more foreign key
errors when deleting stuff.

I did get those errors -

The fix was -
use netdot;
SET FOREIGN_KEY_CHECKS=0;
DROP TABLE ....;
SET FOREIGN_KEY_CHECKS=1;

Thanks,

OK, but what I meant is that those tables could cause errors in the
Netdot UI when deleting devices, like what happened to you at the
beginning of this thread.
