Hello.
We are using Netdot v1.0.4
I am having a heck of a time trying to figure out how to add an
alias/cname to an already existing netdot record.
Given this rrid (16244)
<opt>
<Ipblock id="451273218" address="10.160.116.6" description=""
first_seen="2014-12-12 22:17:03" info="" interface="0"
last_seen="2014-12-12 22:17:03" owner="0"parent="10.160.116.0/23"
parent_xlink="Ipblock/227412874" prefix="32" status="Static"
status_xlink="IpblockStatus/6" use_network_broadcast="0" used_by="0"
version="4" vlan="0"/>
<RR id="16244" active="1" auto_update="0" created="2015-01-14
23:21:53" expiration="" info="" modified="2015-01-14 23:21:53"
name="netdot-subnet-test-entry"zone="pdx.flibber.com"
zone_xlink="Zone/3"/>
</opt>
I want to add the CNAME 'somecnameforthingy' to the existing record
netdot-subnet-test-entry.pdx.flbber.com
I've made sure my record updates are working by updating the 'info'
key on this existing record. Now to add the cname to the existing
record i've tried a few different things none of which work.
In the Model/RR.pm I see this line.
aliases (O) Comma-separated list of strings for CNAMEs
Which led me to believe I could include the key 'aliases' with my post
data to set the hostname. I tried that and while i get an http
response of 200 the cname is not set.
For example here is URI i posted to and the data payload
/netdot/rest/host?rrid=16244
{:aliases=>"somecnameforthingy", :zone=>"pdx.flibber.com",
:subnet=>"10.160.116.0/23", :name=>"netdot-subnet-test-entry"},
I've tried the following permutations of aliases (aliases as array)
:aliases=>["somecnameforthingy"]
aliases with CNAME fully qualified
:aliases=>"somecnameforthingy.pdx.flibber.com"
All of these give me a 200 but no cname record get's setup.
I've also tried using the key cname instead of aliases with the same result.
I'm hoping someone more familiar with netdot can get me on the road to
happiness here.
Any help/ideas appreciated.
TIA
