onBeforeHtmlOutput is a good catch all event for HTML changes.
You may be able to do the customization you want with the extra html
property of the images.
You could also look at the CSpImage class and see what properties are
available there which could help.

Although I think you changes can all be easily accomplished with the above
techniques, the ultimate is to replace the control with a static text, turn
off HTML escaping, and generate precisely the HTML you want, with no
extraneous framework interference.
