Hi folks, sorry this one is a long one...it's an odd error we're having and I'm
stumped on how to fix it. [Yes Aby, we tried the Karma of deleting the .ser
files, restarting the ND server. No luck!]
Our problem:
We have a ND4 project in development that had been behaving fine, but then
started to give an error at runtime (see error msg & log details below) when we
try to access it after making simple changes to a page's .java file.
I spoke to the developer and found out she did a copy/paste of a DataObject. And
when I then chked out the .sid file referenced by this pasted DO I noticed the
ID #s for the columns in the DO were identical to the ones in the DO she copied.
I thought that might be a problem, so I had her go back to a version of the
project b4 she did the copy/paste and recreate a new one from scratch. That
fixed things for a day, and now she tells me the same error is back. Here's how
it occurs:
If she simply comments out a line like this:
// CSpHtml.sendMessage("junk");
the page compiles fine. But then when we run the app, instead of displaying the
start page, we get an HTML page that says:
"Could not connect to the NetDynamics Application Server. Please make sure the
NetDynamics Application Server services are running."
Oddly, she can change the text of the arg in the sendMessage method above (say
from "junk" to "stuff") without getting the runtime error.
Does anyone have any advice or ever experienced something similar? Would the
"repair" feature in Studio work? We've never used it b4.
NOTE: We can run and modify our other ND apps that run on this ND app server
with no problems.
