ND5 still supports the ND2 event model (which is used in ND3).

You don't need to move to EJBs to move to J2EE. EJBs hold a lot of
promise, but they do add overhead (both in terms of programming and
required server capabilities) and portability is not assured at this
time. We are going to start out with Java Server Pages talking to java
beans. If and when we need to add EJBs, they will be back-end services to
the java beans.
