onBeforeDisplay is a better place.

Some pages (with navagation buttons like first prev etc. ) will not fire
onbeforeload.

Sorry, I couldn't locate the page where we had done this.

I believe this_onBeforeLoad() is a good place to put this code. Probably
onBeforeDisplay would be equally good. 

I cant foresee any problem if the code is well written. The only problem
that can occur is a minor 'session bleed' if you setHtmlTemplate()
conditionally and not always. I mean, if you don't want to set it to
anything special, be sure to set it back to the default.
