Since this is under discussion, I am hoping some user feedback would be helpful.
1. I cannot recall ever having a student stumble over the concept of an extension. 2. I cannot recall ever having a student stumble over the colon notation. Instead, it highlights nicely that an extension is in use. 3. I already set off file handling into a separate topic in my course. It would be very natural to introduce this as an extension. 4. In contrast to the above, where no issues have arisen, the documentation issue raises the bar. I teach my students to treat the NetLogo Dictionary like scripture, always open while they code. Having to look elsewhere for extension documentation is an issue. 5. I cannot back this up, but I suspect that explicit loading of extensions is a good thing for students. It highlights that they are accessing a collection with related functionality. I have never had the impression that this "raises the bar". fwiw, Alan Isaac -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "netlogo-devel" group.
