When the shared clip board was available:
In a collaborative session usually with about 5 people, using NM to share an
application, usually MS Excel or MS Word
Work with the information in various ways,
* adding information - anybody could open a file on their PC copy the
information and we could paste it into the application open on the meeting
PC
* changing information - we would make changes directly to the file open on
the meeting PC
* we could make pivot tables or charts on the meeting PC
* we would have open discussion on the revised information
Then when we had come to consensus on the final format we could copy and
paste all or parts of the information back to the applications on anyone
individuals PC or all participants PCs.
NetMeeting with the shared clipboard was a very powerful collaborative tool.
NM3 does not have the shared clip board and looses a lot of utility for
collaborative work as a result.

That's interesting because I never noticed that the shared clipboard
was
removed. I had to look in the resource kit to verify it because I
didn't
believe you at first.
I guess I've never found a use for the shared clipboard. In fact, I
recall a
conversation with some other collaborative apps developers and none
of them
realized it was in there. We tried to use it but found it took too
much
coordination.
How are you using it?

My biggest issue is the removal of the shared Clip board. We use
NetMeeting
as a highly effective tool for collaborative working, and don't use
the
video feature at all. By removing the shared clip board Micorsoft
has
decreased the utility of NM3 to our organization by as much as one
third.
I have seldom seen a upgraded version of a product take such a large
step
backwards in terms of user friendliness and useful features.

I agree fully Falkov, but M4 pushes that NM3 is way more
than just
collaborating. I have read many newsgroups, including the
M$, the
overall
biggest gripe and confusion, is why did they take the video
switching away.
M$ will bring it back, too many complaints.

Kelley,
the main point of having a MP meeting is the ability to
collaborate.
This does not necessarily involve a/v. For most companies,
sharing apps and working on documents is the main value.

Personally I think it was pretty stupid of m$. What's the
use of
running a
meeting or hosting a meeting if you can only see the first
person
who enters
the meeting. I really like the new interface, pip, ease of
add/remove ILS
servers but the video issue is foolish. Its now a point to
point, 1
to 1
only.

That feature was removed from V3 -- the only way I can think
of to
get it
back is to use 2.11 or some sort of MCU.
