To find out your IP address go to Start -- Run -- winipcfg
It will show you your IP address. Please note that your IP address changes
everytime you connect or reboot your computer if you are on a cable hookup.
One way to always be able to connect to each other is to go to this website
TZO.com
They have some software that you can evaluate for 30 days free ( I did it
and I love it) then I think it was $29.95. What happens is that you assign
a name to your IP address and it stays that way...for instance mine is
aymejo.tzo.com I give that out to people who want to dial me up on
Netmeeting directly. No matter what my address changes to from day to day
TZO always keeps track of it and connects people to me using my unique name
that I picked out. Yours could be mitchell.tzo.com or whatever you
want.... the same for your relatives..Just go and check out the TZO.com
site. It is well worth it.
Oh --- if by chance you have a static IP connection...(that costs extra
money each month thru your server) then your connection address will never
change, but most of us don't have that. To find our for sure ---- check
your IP configuration and note the address....and then shutdown and reboot
and connect again and look again... if your address is the same as it was
previously....then by all means you have a static connection. just give out
that address to your relatives.
If you don't want to use TZO.... just check your IP config for your address
for that particular time you are on and email it to whoever you want to call
you. They can do the same.
Remember Start - run - winipcfg to find out...
