It's on the road map. See the slide titled "What’s next in Netsniff-NG?" [1]
I believe Daniel and Tobias are waiting on the PCAP indexing work of one of
their colleagues.
Yep, I will poke him when I'm back from vacation.
Daniel, Tobias, any word on the progress of that research?
It's on our list, but we haven't started it yet to work on it. Of course,
contributions are welcome to accelerate the progress. ;-) When I have
reduced my huge backlog queue with pending netdev kernel work, we'll come
to that.

I know a while back I mentioned this and there seemed to be a bit of
interest but I thought I would bring it back up regarding PCAP indexing.
Netsniff has helped me solve the problem of capturing high speed but has
added a new problem around the large amount of PCAP. I know time machine
and cxtracker have this functionality and was wondering if this is anywhere
on the roadmap for netxniff-ng. I am pretty sure in time machine its a
separate process to create the indexes but I was hoping to do it at write
time as they take priorities over reads.
Thanks
Mike
