I don't have an entirely new idea about such type of app,
anyway i think it should be the most interactive as possible;
a good thing could be to implement an automatic traceroute of user's ip,
just to avoid the initial boring thing to search the appropiate country
and region.
However this automation should be obviously optional, since someone
would like to add it's ntk ap using for example a public machine which
could have a gateway that is unrelated to user's ntk ap's geographical
zone.
This one could be a nice idea, i think...

As said by Luca Dionisi i think we should look for Open Maps
(OpenStreetMaps) without any doubts, but i think we could use Google'
for the moment, just to bring up a poor provisional map, until
OpenStreeMaps will be fairly detailed.
