Very interesting to use phones as netsukuku repeaters. Here in Australia our phones on the NextG network lose battery much faster if the signal is poorer; they can lose most of the battery quite quickly if there is no signal and the phone is on.
I would guess it would be possible to write drivers for the phone that were more suited to use as a repeater with limited battery, ie. they could scan for networks less frequently or less completely, singling in on the required network/s automatically instead of searching. Also could handle the screen and speakers on even more of an "as needed" basis. If the hardware is up to it, that is. But, why not use an adapter and run the cellphone from the battery in a car? If somebody was really keen they could place a second (deep cycle) battery in the car to charge, and run the cellphone from the spare battery while the car is off. This makes a portable repeater. Hi everyone, I'm new to the list. But if NETSUKUKU daemon will route packages all time, it will be equivalent to man, speaking all time without breaks. In last case, accumulator supplies energy during 4 hours (look passport for your phone). Problems: 1) man must remember to charge (load) accumulator each 4 hours 2) accumulator is only for 1000 cycles of charging (loading), so man is forced to buy a new accumulator after each 1000 cycles Decisions: 1) Daemon routes traffic, only when phone is connected to electo-net, i.e. daemon does not use phone on the street. And each good man, who wants to support Netsukuku, connects own phone into electro-net each time, when he occurs in home or office 2) Good men buy additional phones and never bring them on the street, i.e. men save them in home and office, already connected to electo-net. What is the difference between these phones and repeaters on cellular towers? Repeaters need govenment licence (Really need? Is it possible to distinguish phone and repeater by their packages? by their electro-magnetic radiation?) 3) Using accumulator not on Li+, but of other types: on alcohol (in agre-cultural countries), on super-ion accumulator (in hi-tech countries). What is the last patent in area of electro-car? Are radio-isotopic power supply on market? What is the other decisions? _______________________________________________ Netsukuku mailing list [email protected] http://lists.dyne.org/mailman/listinfo/netsukuku
