Double-clicking certainly highlights the existing address for me. I agree that typing in a new address doesn't work as might be expected ie deleting the highlighted text and replacing it with the new text. Wish it did! As it it is the only way seems to be too highlight and press Delete or to use the time-honoured RO method of placing the caret in the address bar and pressing Ctrl-U to clear it.
