Yes, I can help ya with the wave file problem. I may not be able to help
with the speed problem, but anyway, here goes.
I also have an aptiva, running at 166 mhz, with 64 mgs in it. As to the
wave files, for some reason, some sound cards such as the crystal
semiconductor p&p card I have, don't work right with the nettamer g&s.exe
program. This is the program that plays all the cute nettamer voice
sounds that we've come to know and love. There are two ways to solve the
speed problem. Now that ya have windows, ya can speed up the wave files,
and that'll allow the g&s.exe file to play them right. Also, I have
noticed that different versions of g&s handle wave files differently, so
try out different versions if ya don't want to change the speed of the
files. As for yer modem, are is it an internal? Ya said it's an aptiva
modem, just to let ya know, my aptiva has an at&t win modem, also plug and
pray, and get this, three different dos modes! I have a 336 k modem, and
almost always get 28.8 in windows, and a bit less in dos. Let me know
privately more about yer aptiva, and I may be able to give ya a few
pointers, or vice verse!
