Subject: putting nettamer on another computer
Cheryl:
There's a fair amount of work to do. In terms of having the
full facilities of Net-Tamer as registered software, you will need
to, but not necessarily in the order listed, (1) duplicate on the
second machine the directory/subdirectory structure where Net-Tamer's
files were kept on the original machine or update Net-Tamer's path
configuration for Msg. directory, download directory, and for your
editor if duplication of the first machine is not your desire for the
second. (2) move NTCOM.DEF and NTUSER.DEF from your original machine
-- making certain they go in the same directory or subdirectory where
NETTAMER.EXE resides on the second machine, (3) move USER.EZ from the
original computer -- making certain it goes into the same directory
or subdirectory where NETTAMER.EXE is normally executed on the second
computer, (4) move USENET.REC from the original machine to a
duplicate directory or subdirectory or to the new message
directory/subdirectory if a new path to same has been configured on
the second machine, (5) move any existing .PRU archive files and
their associated index files of the same name without a file
extension to the configured message directory on the second machine,
(6) move over to your message directory configured on your second
machine the .DLU message files and there associated .IEU files
containing messages you have not yet deleted and wish to keep for a
while, (7) move over all files from your original machine to their
designated path in NTUSER.DEF on the second machine that relate to
your chosen text editor and spellchecker -- making certain all path
information is accurate and that any tweaking of text editor and
spellchecker configuration has been dealt with to accommodate the new
environment on the second machine, (8) move DJPEG.EXE and G&S.EXE
from the first machine to the second -- making certain they go in the
same directory/subdirectory where NETTAMER.EXE resides, but not
DJPEG.EXE unless you intend to run Net-Tamer in graphics mode under
its 386 flavor, (9) move over from the first machine to the second
all .F16 and .F14 font files if you are intending to run Net-Tamer in
graphics mode, (10) move over from the message directory on the first
machine to the second MAIL.DLU and MAIL.IEU if you have any pending
E-Mail left which you need to answer once you are setup on the second
machine, (11) move MAIL.SET from the message directory/subdirectory
on the first machine to the configured message directory/subdirectory
on your second machine, (12) move ADDRESS.LST and any files you use
for sending blind CCs to a specific group of people from the message
directory/subdirectory on your first machine to its equivalent on the
second, and (13) move USENET.NFO from the directory/subdirectory
where it resides on your first machine to its equivalent on the
second machine in the event your ISP requires password access to its
news servers.
Some setup on the second machine may not be possible --
assuming you do not desire an exact duplicate on the second machine
of the first -- until you have already created
directories/subdirectories to be declared in Net-Tamer's setup and
have moved certain files to their intended location. (i.e. your text
editor and your font files) Undoubtedly, I've left something out.
But, I tried.... :-)
