Subject: net tamer accessable news services...
Jim:
Net-Tamer can handle some of these web sites, just not the latest
version, and, in some cases, not the 386 implementation. MSNBC's site
is pretty much a lost cause in ANY version or implementation. CNBC
can be read in all versions by calling up:
www.cnbc.com/jetson/home4.html
CNN is callable with versions 1.08 and 1.10. Only the XT
implementation of version 1.10 will work, though. Version 1.08 will
load pages from CNN's website but will not display all links, or at
least as many as version 1.10 for XT and 286 systems. At present, The
Washington Post is callable only by version 1.10 for XT and 286
system. The following are useful links:
http://washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/nation/
http://washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/world/
http://washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/metro/
http://washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/business/
http://washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/digest/
Remember, you do NOT use "www." in Washington Post links.
Here are some Associated Press news links. They work in all versions of
Net-Tamer -- although I prefer the screen format and link
highlighting in version 1.08.
www.newsday.com/ap/topnews/index.htm
www.newsday.com/ap/national/index.htm
www.newsday.com/ap/international/index.htm
www.newsday.com/ap/washington/index.htm
www.newsday.com/ap/healthscience/index.htm
www.newsday.com/ap/wallstreet/index.htm
Yahoo has a nice set of news digest pages and a few that present
specific news stories -- mostly from Reuters. Here are some useful
links. Keep in mind that versions 1.10 or higher must be used to read
news stories from these links. Note, however, that news stories from
such newspapers as the New York Times will not be displayed because
the Times will require prior registration and a browser that will
offer up a cookie that contains your registration information.
