Hi Karen,

KL>i am using a us robatics 33.6k modem and lately when trying
KL>to run nt and some of my other programs b386 for example
KL>i get this message when connected after dialing...
  KL>connect 1200
  KL>followed by a lot of u u u u u u u u u's

I've seen something similar when it erroneously connects
without error-correction.

The default on my USR Courier is &M4 - Normal/ARQ mode, normal
if an ARQ (error correction) connection cannot be made.
These days you *never* want a non-corrected connection.

Use a normal terminal program (Telix, Procomm or similar),
type ATZ, then AT&M5, then AT&W to write the change into the
modem's NVRAM. (You should get "OK" prompts in-between each
command).

If it doesn't fix it, it certainly won't do any harm.

Good luck,
Mike
