Studio Manager of Digital Media and Photography

The digital media and photo program at Anderson Ranch is seeking a year
round studio manager to begin sometime in May.
 
Anderson Ranch Arts Center, located 10 miles outside of Aspen Colorado, is
an artists' community offering workshops and residencies. The newly expanded
digital media program offers classes in video, digital imaging, animation,
interactive media, and physical computing. Summer workshop faculty are
professionals in their field and include nationally and internationally
renowned artists. Residencies are also available for emerging artists
wishing to experiment and establish new directions of growth in their work.
 
Responsibilities:
The studio manager works closely with the program director and is
responsible for overseeing and maintaining of the day-to-day operations of
the digital and darkroom facilities. This includes trouble-shooting
equipment, ordering supplies, hardware and software maintenance, color
calibration keeping the area neat and orderly, and making recommendations
regarding hardware and software. In addition they provide technical and
educational assistance to residents, visiting artists, and summer faculty
and students.
Summer Workshop Program:
The studio manager assists with summer workshops, working with the program
director to fulfill workshop supply lists and to otherwise help coordinate
25-30 workshops a summer. The studio manager helps coordinate the activities
of 3 interns as the team addresses the day-to-day needs of the summer
workshops, providing assistance to faculty and students, and turning over
classrooms for next workshop.
Winter Residency Program:
In the winter, the studio manager oversees facilities and equipment, and is
responsible for ordering materials and supplies for the residency program.
They coordinate with program director on program needs, spend one afternoon
per week providing residents with technical assistance and assist PD in
research. 
 
Reports to the Program Director of Digital Media and Photography.
The schedule is approx 60 hours per week from mid May - September
20 hours per week from October - mid May
Studio Managers are given studio space to work in winter.
Compensation is Food, Housing and 850 a month.
 
 
Minimum Qualifications:
An understanding of digital media and photographic practices necessary with
technical expertise in the following areas:
 
·      Experience in computer maintenance (Macintosh platform OS X)
·      Knowledge of different software packages: Adobe Creative Suite
(emphasis on Photoshop CS2), Macromedia Studio (emphasis on Flash), and
Final Cut Studio Pro.
·      Experience with Adobe After Effects, Apple iLife, Max/MSP, Jitter,
DP, and/or Processing a plus.
·      Experience in Photography and Darkroom/Alternative processes a plus
·      Ability to take initiative and seek/accept guidance and supervision
as needed.
·      Ability to establish work priorities, respond to unanticipated needs,
and work under pressure.
·       Orderly, able to organize and handle multiple tasks at one time.
·       Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with others.
·       Ability to work in a team.
·       Good character, integrity, and adaptability
·       Enthusiasm, sense of humor, and patience.
