1. If a response is being sent in, it must be today, or forget it. The
letters editor will not print responses to old items, usually (ie if it has
no sensational value). 2. Letters to the editor need to be exceedingly
brief, or they run the risk of being slashed by some nitwit/deliberately, to
dilute their meaning.
3. The best response, imo, is to use the same space, ie an invited column.
This may need some delicate manoeuvering, ie the media plan to which Guru
refers. This is a long term strategy.
