hello all, On 11th october FOSSCOMM meeting, we all agreed to propose that software in public sector funded by public money should be exclusively developed as FOSS. We also proposed that the knowledge in this context should be released free and open.
Now here is an interesting case why this is important. digitallyfree.blogspot.com is the blog where I posted the entire story and one can read it there. The long story short of it is that, MHADA officials seem to have introduced a flaw in the software and now the court is in doubt whether the lucky draw was fare or not. Now the point is, if such softwares continue to remain proprietory, then more such cases will happen and the only way to know the reality would have been to keep the source code free and open. We have also herd about the software in the woting machines being flawd. whether that comment came from a pollitical loss of the party in question is in doubt. But again, we don't know and will never know the realityt. Happy hacking.
