I am looking for those spirited and resourceful individuals who, believe that time has come for a grand netbased learning platform based on open educational resources.
I am putting forth some ideas , and wish to get comments, but more importantly wish to get partners. 1. A commercially viable open platform for learning is needed. 2. Learning , though largely using web-resources, may use blended ( mix of online and offline) mode 3. Should ride on the content like OCW of MIT, NPTEL of IITs , www.curriki.org, www.amser.org, www.cnx.org, ccl.northwestern.edu , flexbook etc etc and host of FOSS sites. 4. Content may be video or other wise. 5. Content may be multilingual : the platform should be used to create translations where needed, in a sustainable way. 6. Something like this is taking shape at IGNOU ( ODTEL) but its fate is determined by the governmental institution like IGNOU. How open will it be, not sure. 7. It may offers to register students, institutions and teachers or mentors 8. A good model : www.testminister.com 9. Those who wish to provide services may put up their tariff. some may offer free courses. 10. Those service providers who wish to quote third party accreditation, including affiliations to university or boards etc,may do so. 11. The platform may vouch for authenticity of service provider if it has adequate system to do so, but , by default may not do so , and all this, loudly, visibly openly. 12. This training may include FOSS skills, regular courses as open school, support for niche subjects 13. To the extent formal educational institutes can be involved, their certification and diploma could be offered. 14. It should be offered on collaborative LMS like moodle or Sakai or ?? 15. It should have tests ( self tests) that determine stages of proficiency of the learner 16. There should be a set of mentors who may charge for their time. Their abilities should be visible through the website. 17. They may charge differentially. 18. Revenue models may be many. A certain (fixed ?) share of revenue be taken by the facilitating site. Say 20% 19. Of this 20%, at least 5% be DONATED to either blender3d or FSFINDIA. jitendra
