Actually the pricing ruins our already cash strapped research
institutions. It is also necessary to have solid peer reviewed open
access research e-journals of high quality. Springer, for example,
permits open access provided the author pays for it. This is not
particularly sane as all these prices are not within the range of most
people involved.
