I thought $35 might not even be the real price at which people will get
this laptop.
I think it will be more than 3 or 4 times the actual cost given all
factors, technical and non-technical.
It is all good for a prototype (I saw it once ) but for real time use we
must wait for results.

The BOM cost was mentioned as 12 $. Assuming that several embedded
tricks like XIP was used, the minimum ram would be 16MB to run a
320x240 FB. It would not be possible to fit in an LCD display of even
the most rudimentary performance in that price. Even if the
government owned the FABs and used one of the unencumbered cores and
ran the operation at costs.
I have mailed the low cost device forum at NME too. Let see if they
respond.
IMO at very very large volumes, ZERO profits and the most rudimentary
graphics performance it might just be doable.
