While we have quite obviously seen many pure software patents being
granted wrongly, some patent lawyers I have spoken with believe that the
Indian Patent Office tends to err on the side of caution (in case of
software, and generally as well).  This is borne out to an extent in
India having a very low ratio between granted patents to applications.[1]
