... people who are not used to email in general find it very hard to read
through interlined email. Just my observation. No matter how sensible, and
no matter how logical the reasons may seem, one size does not fit all. When
posting to mixed groups (and nowadays, other than in specialised IT-focused
lists like this one, one must expect to find loads of newbies present), top
posting actually is more courteous.

As for the order in which people read things, when reading paper documents,
where interlining is not possible, very often, if the subject is not known,
people read the newest one (in a file, for instance) in order to understand
whether knowing the full background is relevant ie how far back to go. If
you don't encounter paper files in your daily life, well, there's a whole
world out there, full of people who do.

But for people who use email regularly, interlining and clipping is often
courtesy, saving the reader from tons of unnecessary and irrelevant
verbiage, and also reducing the overall packet transfer size, thus adding to
a green consciousness.
