we recently had a team visiting for accreditation ; no body
asked anything about it ; it would not be very easy to implement
until and unless there are other software for managing the day to
day activities distributed along with that
VTU in karnataka has similarly distributed few softwares to manage
the institution information system , which it has mentioned that
is mandatory to use, we are suppose to use that software
compulsorily as the data gets sinked to their server
Microsoft intention here is to attract students, which may attract
many institution for sure.
there were similar efforts from IBM, TCS and other companies where
they offered few other softwares free of cost , but charged for
their cloud service per student per month basis which has not yet
successfully implemented anywhere in karnataka as far as i have
information
we should object the dual stand by aicte -- in NMEICT policy ,
page 53 , clearly says that we should move for FOSS also , but
this kind of back entries will discourage many who are working
hard to inclusion of FOSS in all forms of education
