Currently MIT Aurangabad is phasing towards same thing.
I am coordinating the eferts, so would like to know what all difficulties I may face while getting turbo out entirely.
I know Graphics has been a major concern.
Happy hacking.

Dear FOSSouls,

I am HOD-IT at Meerut Institute of Technology, Meerut. I want to share
the result of my long efforts for replacing the Turbo C++ based
Computer Graphics lab with OpenGL. In this semester, my lab admin Mr.
Mohit Saxena used clonezilla and cloned CG lab of our department into
Ubuntu 14. My new CG faculty Mr. Suresh Kumar did OpenGL with great
enthusiasm for software freedom. The result is that we are happy to
share this news with you all.

Are there any other institutes who do this? Let's share the experiences.

It has been a challenge to convert the Turbo C++ culture into Software
Freedom. I have seen that many faculty members of computer science
consider Turbo C++ culture as some sort of religion. We need some kind
of document which we can provide them to know how they are damaging
software culture among their students.

Congratulations!

It will be very useful if your team can create documentation so that it can be
done in other places as well. We would love to follow you!
