Folks,

We have been making changes to Solaris' IP to provide improved forwarding throughput and scalability and will be delivering this enhancement as Surya project in Nevada around Sept/Oct timeframe. Surya will remove a large performance bottleneck, enabling Solaris to be considered as a viable operating system for use in router appliances

I am interesting in knowing what folks think about the idea of exploring router appliances using Solaris (akin to the now-defunct Linux Router Project). I am also interested in knowing of other problems we can work on to make Solaris an even better candidate operating system for routing purposes.

Looking forward to your feedbacks

Sangeeta
