I think it is on the table!
I think most open source web and application servers, including Sun
products, are very likely to adopt new APIs if they improve performance.
I think this is the biggest challenge.
Are the proposed sockets API extensions already supported by other OSes?
It would be nice if we could play the performance card without having it
trumped by the portability card, considering that network interfaces now
contain "giga" in the name instead of "mega" even on cheap machines. :)
