Note that there are pieces that cannot handle style-1 either. For
example, a diskless boot still depends on the style-2 device node, as
there is no /dev symbol links. So that it can only try to open the
"/devices/pseudo/[EMAIL PROTECTED]:<drv>" node.

Actually, I meant to say that they couldn't handle style 1. :-)
Diskless boot is a good point. Though conceivably that can be fixed.
I seem to recall that some of the old daemons used to serve netbooting
were style-2 only. I've not looked recently to see if they are fixed.
