BTW: It may be nice (not now, after the ksh93-integration putback (e.g.
please apply this patch if possible that we don't hit this issue in the
future)) to check whether rewriting the script in ksh93 would make
sense. Currently it uses a wild mixture of { awk, nawk, grep, egrep, tr
etc. } which could be completely replaced by ksh93 builtins and builtin
functionality (which would lower the number of |fork()|s and may boost
startup time a little bit).
