The one I tried is B101 (SXCE). I think I have seen this behavior with
older builds also.

That's interesting Sumit, was that with an SXCE build (nevada), if so
which build version?

In my case, I have a DHCP server running on my router, so this is used
to provide the machine's IP address, which I have rigged to provide the
same IP address, based on recognition of the NIC's MAC address. On a
much older SXCE (snv_b87), the installer used to ask for the machine's
host name, so with the machine setup to use DHCP, and with the host name
configured during installation, everything worked well.

I tried the same recently but then it started asking about the DNS
server's address. With DHCP, that address actually comes from DHCP
server and it seems there is no way to avoid that step in the
installation process if you choose the naming service to be DNS.

I see the confusion that arose regarding versions. Checking back to my
first post, I did say that it was 'nevada build 101', which is SXCE. Am
I right in saying that the Indiana project is what is referred to as
OpenSolaris 2008.05 (and soon to be 2008.11) ?

Indeed, I mistook the install question regarding DNS to mean 'Do you
wish to setup a DNS server?', which I didn't, so I selected 'None'. I
will know not to do that next time if I remember ;-)

Thanks for your help James.

Cheers,
Simon
