If 00:11:43:14:22:b8 is a MAC address on your system (in this case,
you can check with `ifconfig -a | grep ether'), then it's a bug. If
not, you have another system that's stolen that IP address, and you
need to find it and power it off.
Nothing comes back after I do the above suggested command, so I suspect
that this MAC address is not on my system. But there is no 'ether'
field in the output of ifconfig -a. Is that correct? I'd like to be
sure before I try to tell the system admins that there is a problem
with the network.
I was able to plug a laptop into the same cable and get an address from
the dhcp server.
