Ok, my fault. I just realized that nm-version-macros.h is actually copied twice. To /usr/include/libnm/nm-version-macros.h *and* /usr/include/NetworkManager/nm-version.h. So, nm-version.h including nm-version-macros.h is fine. Somehow I missed that there is an additional copy. Sorry for the noise.
