I posted these patches, and I initially fixed it because on my system, I had
a compile time warning about tmpnam(). So that's way it only applies to 1.3
and doesn't make allowance for system that don't have mkstemp ;-(
Of course, now that I am seing interest in my patch, I could send a revised
one this week-end that also applies to 2.0. But how could I know if mkstemp()
is avaliable ? Do I need to fix the ./configure scripts or macros ??? A little
help on this one might be needed -)

Well, my opinion is that if it used to be with tmpnam(), and you want to replace
it with something new, like mkstemp(), it's important to preserve compatibility
with environements that don't support the new mkstemp().

Not that I am aware of...

Well, I didn't think about that, but having had to look thru the code to make
my submitted patch, I noticed more than one potential improvements in the code.
I think it's something I could manage to 'tackle'
Feedback welcome

That's okay. Anyone whose opinion he cares about already
knows that he doesn't care about their opinion.
