was it a "not active partition" problem?
In this case, you need to boot with a LILO diskette, run fdisk, then
select "toggle a bootable flag" for your primary linux partition and run
lilo again.
This problem should sometimes occur with RedHat 5.2 systems too
(Mandrake 5.1 too).
