Someone replied to my earlier post about this problem and unfortunately I
deleted it before noting who it was from. However...it was regarding one of
the packages that needed to be installed along with the kernel upgrade.
Here is my problem. When I boot.....or when I activate changes in linuxconf
the system sends a command
/sbin/depmod -a
which results in the following error.
error in loading shared libraries
undefined symbol: __bzero
The suggestion was to install the utilities package. Well looking at things I
had installed all the packages that were included in the directory with the
upgrade kernel on the Mandrake 5.3 cd. Which did include the utilities package.
modutils-2.1.121-3. Just to be sure I reinstalled all of them again. I
still get the error. This results in some of my modules not being
loaded...specifically for my sound
card. Anyway...any further suggestions would be most appreciated from the
linux gurus monitoring here.
